What Does The Yellow Triangle Mean On My DSC Keypad?
When your keypad shows a yellow triangle, it signals a trouble condition in the system. If the yellow triangle isn’t blinking, it’s alerting you that there is an issue. When accessing the trouble menu, the yellow triangle will blink rapidly.
The DSC trouble condition number meanings are:
- Service Required: you can press 1 again to reveal more details about the trouble conditions.
- A/C Loss: the system recognizes there is no electrical power. However, the system will continue to operate on a battery backup.
- Telephone Line Fault: the security system doesn’t detect a phone line in the system.
- Failure to Communicate: the system can’t communicate with the monitoring system.
- Zone Fault: the system is experiencing technical difficulties with one or more sensors. You can press 5 again to show the faulted zones.
- Zone Tamper: the security system has a tamper condition with one or more zones. Press 6 to show the zone.
- Sensor or Zone Low Battery: This trouble indicates one of your wireless zones is low on battery. This signal also indicates your backup battery might be low.
- Loss of Time and Date: If all of the power and battery backup is lost, the time and date must be programmed again.
What Are The Most Common Trouble Conditions?

The most common issues with a DSC alarm are the following:

This did not address my problem. We cancelled our monitoring service, which caused the yellow triangle to be on. I need to know how to turn it off.
Hello John, after cancelling monitoring, the most common trouble condition is [4] which is a loss in communication to the monitoring station. If you don’t want to connect to a new monitoring provider, you can cancel the trouble condition yellow triangle by pressing [*]+[2] and then press [9]. This sequence will cancel the trouble condition light, but won’t resolve any problems with the communication of your system.
